FIFA U17 Women's World Cup 2021: Groups, fixtures, results & all you need to know

The 2020 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup will be hosted by India from February 17 to March 7, 2021. 

The seventh edition of the tournament, which was earlier scheduled to take place in November 2020, had to be postponed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. 

The latest edition of the U-17 World Cup will be the second FIFA competition to be hosted by India. In 2017, the country successfully hosted the men's U-17 World Cup which was clinched by England. 

Though the Coronavirus pandemic has affected football globally, it is hoped that the tournament will go ahead as per the new schedule and Goal brings you everything you need to know.

 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup format

The 2020 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup will feature 16 teams - India has qualified as a host and 15 other teams will qualify based on their performances in their respective continental competitions. 

The format for the final tournament will feature four groups of four teams each.

The winner and runner-up in each group will progress to the quarter-finals.

When and where will the 2020 FIFA U17 World Cup take place?

The seventh edition of the U-17 World Cup will kick off on 17 February 2021  and will end with the final on 7 March 2021.

The tournament will be held in India who will be hosting a FIFA women's tournament for the first time ever. 

It must be noted that the competition was initially scheduled to start in November 2020 but the Coronavirus pandemic forced FIFA to come up with a revised schedule.

The host cities for the tournament are:

• Guwahati - Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium (Six group matches)

• Bhubaneswar - Kalinga Stadium (Six group matches, a quarter-final and a semi-final)

• Kolkata - VYBK Stadium (Six group matches and a quarter-final)

• Ahmedabad - TransStadia Stadium (Six group matches and a quarter-final)

• Navi Mumbai - DY Patil Stadium (A quarter-final, semi-final, third-place playoff and final)

While the final list of participating teams is yet to be finalised, FIFA has released the fixture schedule for the competition. With the hosts being allotted first slot in Group A, it has been confirmed that India will play all their group games at the India Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.
