Fans gather to support Ajax youngster Abdelhak Nouri

With the Ajax youngster diagnosed with serious and permanent brain damage, supporters of the club gathered on his street to offer support

Large groups of fans gathered to support Ajax youngster Abdelhak Nouri on Friday, with Nouri’s father taking the time to thank them.

The 20-year-old midfielder collapsed in a friendly against Werder Bremen on July 8. While initial tests were hopeful, the club confirmed he had suffered “serious and permanent brain damage” after he was removed from his medically induced coma.

His injuries are so severe Nouri is unlikely to live an independent life, if he does wake up. However, his family has not given up hope.

And they received support from Ajax fans Friday, as a large gathering took place on the street where Nouri’s family lives.

Nouri’s father greeted the those gathered and thanked them for their support.
