Bayern Munich troll Man Utd after Robben volley

Bayern Munich have trolled Manchester United by comparing Arjen Robben's brilliant volley against Al Ahli to the goal that knocked the Red Devils out of the Champions League in 2010.

Robben netted Bayern's third in a 6-0 friendly demolition of the Qatari side, smashing home Arturo Vidal's outswinging corner from the edge of the box. The goal was very similar to the 74th minute strike by the Dutchman in April 2010 which saw Alex Ferguson's side knocked out of the tournament on away goals.

Back in April 2010, Bayern were trailing 3-1 at Old Trafford after a 2-1 quarter-final first-leg victory in Munich before Franck Ribery's corner was volleyed past Edwin van der Sar by Robben. Bayern went all the way to the final that season, beating Lyon in the semi-final before coming undone in Madrid as Inter Milan lifted the trophy thanks to a double from Diego Milito.

Bayern's Twitter account paid tribute to Robben's classic goal, trolling United in the process by writing "Is it 2010? @ArjenRobben produces a piece of Old Trafford magic to fire #FCBayern 3-0 in front!"

The Bavarians' friendly victory over Al Ahli on Saturday also saw Sandro Wagner net his first goal for the club since his transfer from Hoffenheim, heading home in the 39th minute. Corentin Tolisso doubled the lead after half-time before Robben's excellent volley increased the advantage.

Goals from Kingsley Coman, Niklas Dorsch and Niklas Sule sealed the victory as Jupp Heynckes' side prepare to resume their Bundesliga season with a trip to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, January 12.
