Asante Kotoko & Aduana Stars will make Ghana proud, says Appiah

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes Ghana Premier League champions Aduana Stars and FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko will have a good run in the Caf Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively this season.

Aduana will face Libyan side Al Tahady in the preliminary round of the Champions League in Egypt on Sunday while Kotoko host CARA Brazzaville of Congo at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the first leg of the Confederations Cup.

"I strongly believe the two clubs representing us will have a good run this year. They will make us proud by making it into the group stage," Appiah told Oyerepa FM.

"I entreat all Ghanaians to rally behind Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko because they are representing Ghana so that they can make us proud by making it to the group stages.

"I will ask the playing body to keep their focus especially Aduana, as they are playing away. They shouldn't be complacent since North African clubs can easily punish you with the slightest mistake you make," he added.

Aside Medeama, no Ghanaian club has made it to the group stages of any Caf competition since 2012.
