According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Wrexham could pip Rangers to the signature of West Ham midfielder Andy Irving. The Scottish side have been interested in the 25-year-old since January but they may be gazumped by the Championship outfit.

Wrexham took their summer spending to around £25 million ($33.5m) with the £10m ($13.5m) capture of Ipswich Town winger Nathan Broadhead. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's team are one of the Championship's biggest spenders but it seems they are intent on strengthening their squad more before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

It remains to be seen if the 6ft 3in Scot, who can play in defensive midfield, central midfield, and attacking midfield, will leave for Wrexham, or Rangers, this summer. Incidentally, he is in the last year of his West Ham contract.
