WATCH: Real Salt Lake and USMNT attacking midfielder Diego Luna bags brace in defeat of tumbling LA Galaxy

Diego Luna turned in his best showing of the season to date for Real Salt Lake, scoring twice in five minutes to lift his side to a 2-0 win over reigning MLS champions LA Galaxy.

The attacking midfielder capitalized on poor defending from the away side, finding himself unmarked in the box on two separate occasions to give RSL the cushion they needed to breeze by the visitors.

Luna's double helped break a poor spell for RSL. Heading into Saturday's fixture, they had lost two on the bounce and three of their last four. They now find themselves ninth in a crowded Western Conference.

Meanwhile, the defending MLS cup winners continue to struggle. Coach Greg Vanney's side are winless in seven matches to start the season, as the Galaxy sit dead last in the West.

Luna figures to be in the side again when RSL take on Nashville next Saturday evening. Nashville are ninth in the East, and have lost to back-to-back fixtures.
