Kirstie Mewis got her West Ham career off to a fantastic start as the USWNT star got an assist in her first game for the London team.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Mewis, who joined West Ham from American side Gotham FC earlier in January, made her Women's Super League debut in the London derby against Tottenham. With the Hammers trailing 3-2, Mewis sent a perfectly weighted free-kick into the Spurs box where Amber Tysiak headed in her first goal for the club.

    Unfortunately for Mewis and West Ham, Spurs managed to net another goal through Jessica Naz and went on to win 4-3. Nevertheless, USWNT star Mewis will at least take some positivity with the assist and will hope to help the club claw their way up the WSL table.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MEWIS?

    The east London team are 11th in the table, ahead of bottom club Bristol City only on goal difference ahead of their clash on January 28. Mewis will be in line to feature again when West Ham take in a trip to Birmingham City for an FA WSL Cup group stage clash in midweek.
