Miedema to leave when contract expires
Star forward had become unhappy at club
Had difficult relationship with manager
WHAT HAPPENED?
Arsenal have announced that Miedema will leave the club after seven years once her contract expires in the summer. Miedema departs after falling out of love with the club and amid a difficult relationship with Eidevall, according toNRC.
The Arsenal boss "had little interest" in building his team around Miedema as he wanted to play more "aggressive football". Meanwhile, Miedema was unhappy with the medical advice at Arsenal and the direction the club was moving in. A video of the two on the touchline has gone viral and potentially sums up their relationship. Eidevall appears to gesture to Miedema to sit back down, touches her shoulder and seems to push her gently. The Arsenal star reacts instantly and appears furious.
Miedema scored 125 goals and contributed 50 assists in her 172 appearances for Arsenal and is the all-time top scorer in the WSL.

WHAT NEXT FOR MIEDEMA
Miedema will be available on a free transfer once her contract with Arsenal expires in the summer and is unlikely to lack for offers. Manchester City have been touted as her most likely destination as they look to strengthen after missing out on the WSL title to Chelsea on goal difference.
