USMNT winger Tim Weah sent off for straight red card offense after striking Panama player in Copa America match

Just prior to the 20th minute of their Copa America match against Panama just minutes after VAR ruled out what at first appeared to be the opening goal for the USMNT, Gregg Berhalter's side were reduced to 10 men.

Winger Tim Weah was deemed to have committed violent conduct after VAR showed a clip of him striking a Panama player in the head.

The Juventus winger's red card put the USMNT at a disadvantage instantly, handing the upper-hand to Panama. The U.S. overcame adversity almost instantly, with Folarin Balogun finding his second goal of Copa America to open the scoring in the match.

However, that disadvantage resurfaced quickly, with Panama equalizing just minutes later.

The U.S. adjusted for the one-man difference at halftime with a triple-substitution, and it nearly worked. Panama's perseverance paid off though, finding a winner with minutes to spare in regulation.

The USMNT will take on Uruguay to wrap up the Group Stage in Copa America action. Gregg Berhalter's squad are in win-or-go-home territory now.
