  • Was left out of the squad for the US pre-season tour
  • Maresca named 28-man Blues squad on Monday
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Enzo Maresca, on Monday, announced a 28-player Chelsea squad that will head to the United States for their pre-season tour. The team, however, did not feature Blues' academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah who has been reportedly told to stay at home, according to Fabrizio Romano. The apparent justification is a well-stocked group of right-sided centre-backs ahead of Chalobah in the pecking order: Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and new signing Tosin Adarabioyo.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Now The Guardian's journalist Ed Aarons reports that the 25-year-old defender could consider moving out of Stamford in the ongoing summer transfer window as he felt that he was left out of the pre-season squad against his will. Chalobah, however, will not take any impulsive decision and instead would wait for the right offer.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The Blues outcast was earlier linked with a move to Manchester United as they were looking to replace Raphael Varane. The Red Devils, however, have now signed Leny Yoro from Lille and are considering making a move for Bayern Munich and Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt.
