Spending spree for Chelsea! European champions keen to hijack Arsenal's move for Viktor Gyokeres in aftermath of Conference League triumph

Gyokeres has been the desire of a number of Premier League giants since the January transfer window, as the Swedish striker has been on top form and helped Sporting CP win the domestic double. Arsenal have reportedly been leading the race to sign Gyokeres this summer; however, the Gunners may be in for a surprise.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, Chelsea have joined the competition to sign the Swedish striker, with the London club reportedly submitting a formal enquiry about a potential transfer. The Blues had been holding off on making any moves until after the Conference League final against Real Betis. After winning the final 4-1, Chelsea's decision-makers are now eager to secure a new attacking talent swiftly, aiming to finalise a deal before the upcoming Club World Cup.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has already reported that the Blues will try and sign a good striker this summer to serve as proper competition for Nicholas Jackson, who has struggled for form in the second half of the season.

The Blues' interest in Gyokeres is still in the early stages, and as such, it can be debated that Arsenal remain in the lead to sign the Swedish striker. Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has also been linked with the Blues alongside Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike.
