  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to journalist Mike McGrath, the England international goalkeeper is likely to remain out of action for up to five months after dislocating his shoulder during Newcastle's Premier League clash against United on Saturday.

    Pope landed awkwardly on his left shoulder during the match and had to be replaced by Martin Dubravka in the 86th minute.

    Magpies manager Eddie Howe had expressed his concern over the stopper's condition right after the game as he said that the player could need surgery and would undergo further checks.

    Now after the initial assessment, the goalkeeper has been ruled out of action for a considerable period and is not expected to return until the final weeks oft he season.
