'I would like to become a legend' - Moises Caicedo makes huge Chelsea vow after silencing doubters of £115m move

The Blues broke the bank last summer to sign the Ecuadorian from Brighton as they paid a whopping £115 million (€134m) transfer fee. The 22-year-old initially failed to live up to the billing in his maiden season as he managed to score just once and provide four assists in 48 matches across all competitions, but has improved plenty over the last few months.

The young midfielder has opened the new season in fine form and has featured in Enzo Maresca's starting lineup in all six of Chelsea's Premier League encounters, while he has been entrusted with the captaincy with Reece James injured. Caicedo has now vowed to establish himself as one of the greatest players in the west London club's history.

Speaking to the club's official website, the midfielder said, "At the beginning of last season it was a little bit tough for me. It's a very big club and you have to get used to it. I learned a lot.

"When someone new comes in with new ways, you need to adapt: to a new club and playing with the impression that you need to win every game. Now I am more adapted to the club, with the new training staff, which is good. I have more confidence and I'm playing good football."

He added, "My team-mates also have helped me a lot on and off the pitch. I'm really enjoying it. As I said when I arrived here, I would like to become a legend here and that’s what I’m working hard to do every day. That's the target."

Chelsea, who are unbeaten in their last six matches across all competitions and are on a five-game winning streak, will next be in action on Sunday as they host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
