Mohamed Salah admits this is his 'last year' at Liverpool after dazzling performance against Man Utd as he claims 'nobody at the club has talked to me about contracts'

Salah's post-match comments to Sky Sports following Liverpool's 3-0 win have fueled speculation about his future at the club. The Egyptian's contract expires at the end of the season and the rumours will only intensify after he admitted this is his "last year" at Anfield.

Sky Sports pundits quickly set about dissecting Salah's unprompted comments, with Jamie Carragher saying he would be surprised if Salah wasn't a Liverpool player next season due to a desire to break more records at the club. But the 32-year-old has made it clear that he's very much open to the possibility of leaving, with Saudi Arabia interest widely reported.

"Honestly, I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and try to think positive, because as you know it's my last year in the club," Salah said. "I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. I feel I'm free to play football and we'll see what's going to happen next year."

He added: "Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contracts, so I've said 'OK, I'll play my last season and in the end we'll see.' It's not up to me, nobody talked to me from the club, but we'll see."

The Liverpool star scored and set up two goals as Arne Slot's side cruised to victory at Old Trafford, and he said the Reds could have scored "five or six".

"I agree with you, I was a little surprised. The game could have finished five or six," he added. "The new manager comes with his style and he wants everyone to adapt, he had a few meetings with senior groups saying you need to set an example for the younger players."

With three goals and three assists already this season, Salah probably won't be too pleased with the impending international break. He'll look to continue his terrific form when Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest on September 14.
