Manchester City reject £6.5m Hoffenheim bid for talented young defender

City have rejected a £6.5 million (€7.6m/$8.8m) offer from German outfit Hoffenheim for young defender Callum Doyle, according to the Daily Mail. The 21-year-old has already been out on four separate loan spells, spending time with Sunderland, Coventry, Leicester and most recently Norwich.

Most of his appearances have come in the Championship but his talents have been spotted by Hoffenheim, who were the first side to submit a bid for Doyle. However, they are not the only team plotting a move, with Serie A club Udinese also thought to be keen on the centre-back, who can also play at left-back.

City tend not to stand in the way of academy products who want to leave in search of regular first-team minutes elsewhere, with the likes of Liam Delap, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle all being sold for modest prices last year.

While Doyle searches for a permanent exit, City will continue their Club World Cup campaign on Thursday night when they take on Juventus in their final Group G match.
