Cherki has displayed sensational form in the 2024-25 campaign, as he has scored 12 goals and provided 18 assists in 39 matches for Lyon across all competitions. He had a brilliant outing against United in the Europa League quarter-finals as the winger scored in both legs of the tie.

Cherki is on a contract that runs until 2026. The deal reportedly also has a verbal release clause of £25 million (€29.2m, $33m), according to the Daily Mail. The report adds that several top European clubs like Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain, and Premier League giants like Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on signing the 21-year-old on a cut-price deal.

Both the Reds and the Red Devils are expected to have a busy summer in the market as the English clubs are looking to rebuild their squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. With Mohamed Salah having already committed his future to the Merseyside club, Arne Slot might consider adding one more player to his attack to bolster the squad.
