The Belgium international winger has been added to a treble-winning squad at the Etihad Stadium, with a £56 million ($69m) move from Rennes completed during the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old is considered to boast the potential required to become a superstar in his own right.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

For now, he is enjoying rubbing shoulders with more established performers such as Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri, with Doku saying of his early experiences in Manchester: “I keep on learning - every training session and game. From the last game [Fulham] I learned that you have to be calm. The massive thing is to not lose the ball - I can still improve on that. It’s about being calm on the ball and having confidence and I want to keep improving on that but today was a success. It’s a pleasure [playing with new team-mates]. I like to play with them of course. On TV they are very good, but in real life they are even better.”

  • WHAT THEY SAID

Doku registered his first goal for City in his latest appearance, against West Ham, with a well taken strike nestling into the bottom corner after cutting in from the left flank. He added on that effort: “We start from the back and build up and look for the free man - [Julian] Alvarez and he looks for me. I try to keep the ball moving, accelerate and go one v one and I decided to shoot. I’m telling it like it's easy but it’s not. It was a nice goal.”
