Julian Alvarez mimics Lionel Messi with flying chested effort for Man City to score fastest goal in Club World Cup final history against Fluminense

After Nathan Ake's effort from long range hit the post, Alvarez pounced on the rebound and knocked it into the empty net with his chest inside the first minute of the final in Saudi Arabia. City managed to double their lead later in the half thanks to an own goal from Fluminense defender Nino.

Alvarez's goal was similar to Messi's effort in the 2009 Club World Cup final. In that match, the Argentine sensation chested the ball into the net in extra time against Estudiantes to secure the win for a Barcelona team coached by Pep Guardiola.

Alvarez scored just 40 seconds into the game, making it the fastest goal in a Club World Cup final. He has now scored in six different competitions for City - no Premier League player has found the net in more tournaments than Alvarez since he first joined the club, according to Opta.

After scoring in the Club World Cup final against Fluminense, Alvarez will aim to improve his Premier League goal record when his side take on Everton in the Premier League on December 27. The Argentine forward has struck four times in the English top-flight this season.
