Rodriguez became a free agent for the sixth straight year after deciding to part ways with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano by terminating his contract mutually after just five months at Estadio de Vallecas. The departure came due to both financial and sporting reasons after the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner was sparsely used by head coach Inigo Perez.

Diario AS have now revealed that Rodriguez is set to leave Europe yet again as he is nearing a move to Liga MX side Club Leon. According to the source, a one-year contract has been nearly finalised, and Rodriguez will travel to Mexico in the coming days to finish the necessary paperwork.
Club Leon will be hopeful of tying down the deal in the next few days as they will look to have Rodriguez available for their Liga MX Clausura opener against Atlas on Sunday, January 19.
