Paris Saint-Germain star Warren Zaire-Emery has been ruled out for the rest of the year after sustaining an ankle injury while on international duty.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The 17-year-old made his France debut and scored as they beat Gibraltar 14-0 in Euro 2024 qualifying. Almost immediately after his goal, however, he had to be taken off with an injury that he sustained as he was tackled as he hit the shot.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The loss of the midfielder will come as a big blow to PSG. Zaire-Emery has been in excellent form for the French champions this season, scoring two goals and registering five assists in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
WHAT PSG SAID
PSG have since confirmed he has been ruled out until the start of 2024, saying in a statement: "Victim of a medium-severity sprain to his right ankle, Warren Zaire-Emery will remain in treatment until the winter break."

WHAT NEXT FOR PSG?
PSG will have to make do without one of their top performers when they take on Monaco in Ligue 1 on Friday. The title holders are top of the table with a one-point lead over nearest challengers Nice, who host Toulouse on Saturday.
