  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Kane swapped Tottenham for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 after 19 years in north London and headed to Bavaria in search of silverware. The striker scored 36 goals in his debut season and won the Golden Boot as Europe's top scorer. However, Bayern failed to win a trophy for the first time since 2012, leaving Kane empty-handed once again despite his prolific goalscoring record.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kane suffered more heartache in the summer as England's dreams of winning Euro 2024 were ended in the final by Spain. The Bayern striker has since admitted his main goal is to win titles as he prepares for another Bundesliga season, but Gascoigne feels Kane is likely regretting his move to Bayern already - and feels he should have headed for Spanish giants Real Madrid instead.

  • WHAT GASCOIGNE SAID

Speaking on behalf of Sports Talk Philly, Gascoigne told GOAL: "I just cannot understand why he went there instead of Real Madrid. When you go there, it’s not just playing and training, you’re in the sun and you’re enjoying it - Madrid, what a great city. Jude Bellingham is there, of course. Yeah, I think he was disappointing in the Euros apart from that one goal. But yeah, I think he (Kane) would be regretting it, Germany isn’t the best of places I suppose. You look at all of the English players who went to Real Madrid like Steve McManaman, Michael Owen and now Bellingham’s gone there so you wonder why he didn’t go there."
