Ex-Chelsea & Arsenal winger completes shock transfer after rejecting chance to stay in Premier League

Fulham manager Marco Silva was keen to hold on to Willian after he scored five goals and provided two assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Fulham last season - as per The Sun. The west London club even offered him a new one-year contract but the forward chose to find a fresh challenge instead of continuing in the Premier League.

Willian passed his medical in Piraeus before signing a one-year contract with the reigning Europa Conference League winners. Apart from Willian, Jose Luis Mendilibar is eager to bolster his squad with further reinforcements and has been linked with another former Chelsea player, Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan winger, currently with Galatasaray, is reportedly looking for a move away from the Turkish club, and Olympiacos could be a potential destination.

Willian joined Chelsea from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 and went on to enjoy a highly successful seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, the League Cup, the FA Cup, and the Europa League. In 2020, he joined Arsenal but could produce only one goal and seven assists in 37 appearances during his single season in north London before parting ways with the club.

As Willian prepares to don the red and white of Olympiacos, he brings with him a wealth of experience and a winning mentality. The Greek club will be hoping that his addition can help propel them to success in the Europa League and the Greek top flight. He could make his debut against Panetolikos on Saturday, September 14.
