THE BIGGER PICTURE
The report adds that Liverpool are another team tracking the attacking midfielder, along with Manchester City and Chelsea. Articles in England suggest he could be a long-term successor to United captain Bruno Fernandes but that is a big claim to make for one so young.
DID YOU KNOW?
According to Fichajes, Fernandez stands out for his 'refined technique, vision, and ability to link up with his team-mates'. The youngster scored Barcelona's final goal in their 3-1 pre-season win over Vissel Kobe and has made the bench in all three of Barca's La Liga games this season.
