'Best team in the world' - Brentford manager Thomas Frank tells Man City and Arsenal why Liverpool are 'a level above'

Brentford put up a valiant fight until the 90th minute but a stoppage-time brace from Darwin Nunez secured the win for the league leaders, keeping them firmly at the top of the Premier League table. It was a bitter pill to swallow for Frank but the manager had no qualms about hailing the Reds as the best team in the world.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Frank expressed his admiration for Liverpool’s quality and said: "I thought we played a really good game against the best team in the world right now. We did a lot of things right. We defended very well. We gave the opportunities away but not too big.

“We probably lacked the final cutting edge. We had some good chances and opportunities that never became opportunities because of the last pass or touch. Their centre-backs were exceptionally good.”

Having faced Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool in close succession, Frank believes that Slot's side stands out among their title rivals.

"I think we just played City and Arsenal and now Liverpool, in a short amount of time. For me, they’re a level above the two teams. They’re complete. Their work ethic, the way they track back, are good indicators," he said.

“They’re so good all over the pitch. Such a threat going forward. These are really, really good. It’s the best team in the Premier League and the world. They’re huge favourites to win it [the title].”

Liverpool’s consistency and quality have set them apart from their competitors, with Frank’s glowing assessment adding weight to the growing belief that this could be their year. The Reds are six points clear at the top with a game in hand on second-placed Arsenal who dropped points against Aston Villa on Saturday evening. They will be back in action against Lille on Tuesday in the Champions League followed by a Premier League fixture against Ipswich on January 25.
