Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall calls for further investment in team and vows Gunners will 'push it to the next level' in WSL next season

Arsenal finished the WSL season in style with a 5-0 win over Brighton on Saturday, securing them a third-place finish behind title winners Chelsea and second-placed Manchester City. The Gunners were just five points behind the top two but manager Eidevall says they need a bit more backing financially to kick on for next season.

He told Arsenal's website: "The support has been magnificent for such a huge part of what we're trying to build. But we can't relax and take things like this for granted. It's about us raising the standards on a sporting level. It's about the club continuing to invest and it's about the supporters staying loud and keeping passionate. Keep bringing this atmosphere and then we can do all those things together. I think we can push it to the next level."

Arsenal finished third in the 2022-23 campaign, 11 points behind champions Chelsea, so they are closing the gap in the WSL. Moreover, they won the FA Women's League Cup for the second time in a row this term, beating Chelsea in the final once again. With Emma Hayes leaving the Blues for the United States job, however, an opportunity may present itself to the Gunners next term.

Arsenal's squad will now head off on their summer break. It is clear Eidevall believes this team has a lot of potential but they need to lift their game if they want to win their first WSL title since 2019.

He added: "When we're looking at the league, we're lacking six points in terms of winning the title. I think we can easily see the season where we could have gotten those six points and we need to raise the standards. But also, of course, we need to make sure that we start next season on a higher level and that we have more tools in the box in order to solve more situations that we face during the season, in order to get those points."
