‘We’ve not disappointed’ - Ojo defends mates over Sunshine Stars’ form

Sunshine Stars' Olorunkele Ojo has defended his teammates owing to their poor start in the Nigerian topflight this season after their 1-0 triumph over Remo Stars on Sunday.

Thomas Adeshina’s solitary effort overcame Fatai Osho’s men to ease the Akure-based side relegation fears and the former Giwa man vowed that they will consolidate on their latest win.

“I’m happy that we won against Remo Stars which is most important for us,” Ojo told Goal.

“Either I play or not, I must congratulate everyone that took part in the game. I’m confident that there is no how the team will go on relegation.

“We are only facing the difficult moment of life as a team which I know we will soon get out of it. Getting maximum points against Remo will increase our confidence and morale booster going into our next matches.

“We hope to take the games as soon as they come. The fans should expect the best from the fans and the technical crew. We should concentrate on the next away matches which I know we can come out victorious.

“I don’t think we have not disappointed so far this season. We are not giving up yet. You can see the likes of Enugu Rangers, Rivers United are struggling despite playing on the continent.

“Everything is ordained to face its own difficult moment in football, and this is Sunshine rough moment. And it will be a disappointing situation for people to make any negative opinion of the team at this point in the time.

“But in a game of football, anything can happen. Whatever that comes, we just have to accept it. We the players and Sunshine Stars are not giving up yet. It is unfortunate that the team is experiencing this difficulty, but very soon we are going to get out of it.”
