Usman Abd’Allah wants to continue Enyimba’s domination of MFM

Enyimba head coach, Usman Abd’Allah has asserted that the People’s Elephant are well settled in Lagos and are not intimidated by the threat from MFM that they are eager to record their first win.

Since 2016 when both teams met for the first time in the elite division, the Olukoya Boys are still in search of their maiden win over the seven-time league champions and the camp of the 2017 league runners-up has been talking tough ahead of their seventh meeting on Sunday at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos.

Abd’Allah reiterated the People’s Elephant’s determination to continue their dominance over MFM and he affirmed their resolve to target their first away win in Lagos as they aspire to usurp their host to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League Group A at the end of the weekend tie.

“We are already in Lagos and are doing very well at the hotel we are camped. We are not taking anything for granted even though history favours us,” Abd’Allah told GOAL.

“We have a game against MFM who are on top of the NPFL Group A and should be respected. A lot has changed between us and our opponents because when we faced them at the start of the season it was as if there was a big gulf between us and them but they are currently leading at the top of the table with three points better than us. We must approach the game with seriousness and hope that our players will not disappoint on Sunday.

“We can’t afford to lose at this point knowing that others are waiting to capitalize on our mistakes. The players know what is at stake and they have promised to give their best to ensure that we leave Lagos with at least a point irrespective of the pressure from the host team. We hope to consolidate on our record against them and go for the three points.”

Enyimba are in the second position with 19 points from 12 games and they are up against MFM who are occupying the top spot having garnered 22 points from 12 games.
