'I felt very good' - Ndifreke Effiong elated after inspiring Abia Warriors' first away win

Ndifreke Effiong says he 'felt very good' to have scored the only goal that gave Abia Warriors their first away victory this season after their 1-0 win against MFM FC at Agege Stadium on Sunday.

The Uchendu Warriors traveled to Lagos after they secured their fourth away draw at Rivers United a week ago and were desperate to better their display against Fidelis Ilechukwu's side.

The Olympic bronze medallist brightened the visitors' hopes when his 54th-minute effort breezed past goalkeeper Isaac Jerry to a win and hugely covered up for points dropped at home this season.

And the excited forward attributed their recent improvement to the motivation received from their management while stating his desire to continue justifying his place in the Umuahia based side.

"I felt very good to give my team the first away win this season against MFM," Effiong told Goal.

"Before now, we had four away draw and now we've added three points with the win here. That's a huge advantage for us and help us move up the table.

"Nothing special or different in what we've been since the beginning of the season except for the little motivation from our management had helped us play better and give our best.

"Getting the chance to lead my team is a burden for me. I need to play better in every game to justify it because they signed me to get goals for them and that what I need to focus on doing well."

Following the win, Abia Warriors are now eighth in the standings with 29 points from 21 matches this season.
