Enyimba striker Abdulrahman Bashir is aiming to inspire his side to a winning return at the Aba Stadium in a crucial Caf Confederation Cup encounter against CARA Brazzaville on Wednesday.
Usman Abdullah’s men are second with nine points - tied with leaders and opponent CARA, who tops the Group C log on goal difference after a 3-0 win over the former in their first meeting in May.
Despite being behind the Congolese, the People Elephants could progress with a draw against the visitors regardless of the result between Djoliba and Williamsville in Abidjan on the same day.
And the forward is assuring of his side’s determination to win in the bid to reward their home fans who will be watching them play in Aba for the first in three years.
"We’re ready for the important match against CARA [Brazzaville] on Wednesday and eager to do our fans in Aba and Nigeria proud,” Bashir told Goal.
“We are expecting a tough match but we’ll not get carried away with our win in Bamako. CARA defeated us in Brazzaville and will come all out for a victory in other to consolidate on our away win and qualify.
“It’s our great joy to be back home again and everyone is looking forward to our first [competitive] game in Aba. We are aware at draw will see us through but It’s important that we look beyond that and do everything possible to win our first game at the Stadium.
“I’ve played here in Aba for a while understand fully well how passionate our fans could be at home. We must strive to win before our fans because this is the first match to take place at the Aba Stadium in about three years and need to honour them with a home win.”
