South Africa vs Sweden Preview: Kick-off time, TV channel & squad news

South Africa will be starting their 2023 Women's World Cup campaign on Sunday against Sweden at Wellington Regional Stadium.

The two nations are in Group G alongside Argentina and Italy, with two teams making it to the Round of 16.

Banyana Banyana are playing just their second World Cup in the competition's history. Their first appearance was in 2019 in France whereby they fell in the first hurdle after losing all their three matches.

As opposed to the previous edition, Banyana are coming into the competition riding high in confidence after winning the 2022 Wafcon.

The Blue and Yellow have never missed the World Cup. In the 2003 edition, they settled for the runners-up spot and have also finished third on three occasions including the last tournament.

South Africa, who come into the match as underdogs, are ranked 54th in the world, while Sweden are third.
