'Our stadium is becoming a nightclub, mate' - Ange Postecoglou gives verdict on Tottenham post-match music and refuses to reveal identity of Spurs dressing room DJ

Spurs have had plenty to celebrate in the 2023-24 campaign, with a flying start made to life under a new manager. The north London outfit have – despite parting with all-time top goalscorer Harry Kane over the summer – made their way to the top of the Premier League table.

Postecoglou’s side remain unbeaten through nine games in the English top-flight, with an attacking brand of football giving supporters plenty to shout about. Celebratory music has been blasted out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a regular basis, and inside the jubilant dressing room, with a disco vibe being embraced a star-studded squad and their larger-than-life boss.

Postecoglou has said of the wild celebrations and who drives them behind the scenes by taking charge of the playlist: “Ah mate, I’ve got no idea. And I stay out of the dressing room partly because of the music choices of the players. Most clubs want to turn their grounds into a fortress – ours is becoming a nightclub, mate. I’m all for it, whatever makes people happy that’s my thing.”

Spurs will be back in action on Friday when taking in a derby date with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and Postecoglou has said of his hopes for the months ahead: “I didn’t come here to not be successful. This club has all the fundamentals to be successful. The expectations should be there. Part of the reason why there’s been this real desperation for a trophy is because they feel that’s the space they should be in. That is the expectation. That’s the reality. But what drives me isn’t raising or trying to dampen expectations. What drives me is trying to build something that will realise the ambitions that this club has at this particular moment. People’s perceptions don’t concern me too much. This is a big club and should be in a position to challenge for trophies every season in my opinion.”
