Portland Timbers introduce ‘Forever Green & Gold’ Kit for 2025 MLS Season

The Portland Timbers have revealed their new primary jersey for the 2025 MLS season, officially named the “Forever Green & Gold Kit.” The design celebrates the club’s 50th anniversary, paying tribute to the Timbers’ storied history since their founding in 1975. Thus it was launched with the slogan “Spirit of 75” and draws from their inaugural 1975 team to ensure their legacy lives on.

“For the club’s 50th anniversary season, we want to honor the club’s legacy and all those who shaped it. With such an intricate history, every detail matters, and that’s represented in this kit,” said Timbers CEO Heather Davis. “The Forever Green & Gold jersey captures the magic that is Soccer City USA. We are excited to celebrate this milestone with our fans and look forward to creating new memories in this iconic kit.”

The Portland Timber’s 50th anniversary home kit, created by Adidas, is a celebration of the club’s sordid history since it was created. Called the Forever Green & Gold Kit, it features a rich, darker green base color officially dubbed "Green Night” and honors the club’s traditional colours of gold and green. The most prominent feature is the pattern of 50 concentric tree rings on the front of the jersey, each representing a year of the club's history.

The Portland Timbers crest, displayed on the left chest, also features gold accents which makes it stand out against the dark green background. The team’s primary sponsor, Tillamook, features in gold across the center of the chest while there’s a tag on the left hip that honors the club’s inaugural 1975 season with the slogan “Spirit of ‘75”. There’s also the number 50 behind the neck which signifies the club’s 50-year history.

The 2024 MLS Season wasn’t the greatest for the Portland Timbers although for fans, the Timbers were one of the more exciting teams. They finished ninth in the Western Conference while scoring 65 goals and conceding 56 (the fifth most). That earnt them a wildcard playoff spot in the MLS Cup although the team were thoroughly beaten 5-0 by the Vancouver Whitecaps.

It does have fans worried especially with the club set to lose star Evander to fellow MLS side FC Cincinnati in a deal reportedly worth $12 million plus add-ons. It does leave manager Phil Neville with a mountain to climb and an offensive to rebuild although pre-season has given fans some hope. The Timbers have won three of their five games played so far and face Charlotte FC before they open the 2025 MLS season against the Vancouver Whitecaps on February 23.
