Ex-Man Utd flop Sergio Reguilon completes second Premier League loan move in space of just four months as he signs up for relegation battle

The Spanish left-back had failed to suitably impress at Manchester United, leading to the Red Devils triggering the break clause in his contract to cut short his season-long loan from Tottenham. Moreover, the return of Luke Shaw to full fitness further complicated matters, with United deciding they didn't need him anymore. However, Reguilon will continue to feature in the English top flight as he has completed yet another loan move to Brentford.

Reguilon visited Brentford's training facilities on Wednesday afternoon to complete the formalities of the transfer which does not have an option to buy. According to The Athletic, Tottenham will continue to pay a portion of his salary, with chairman Daniel Levy agreeing to the terms of the deal.

Reguilon may well go straight into the starting XI from day one as Rico Henry has been sidelined with a knee injury. It is understood that Brentford were keen to get the former Real Madrid left-back on board for a while now, and had contacted Tottenham back in November. However, it was a complicated deal, since the defender was already with United, with Brentford finally being able to wrap up the loan move in the January window.

Brentford will register Reguilon to be able to feature in the Premier League and will hope to have that done in time to ensure he's available for selection against Nottingham Forest on January 20. He will likely have to return to the sidelines after that, however, with the Bees taking on Spurs, the Spaniard's parent club, on January 31, with a clause likely to be added to stop him featuring in that game.
