Man City's new right-back? Premier League side in talks over Inter star before €25m release clause expires next week as Barcelona eye summer swoop

Denzel Dumfries' stunning release clause has caught the attention of City and Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo, Inter fear the two teams can trigger the Dutchman's release clause, despite being unwilling to part ways with him yet. An unexpected transfer could jeopardise the Nerazzurri's transfer plans.

Pep Guardiola wishes to bring in a new right-back who can compete with Rico Lewis. After City's poor form in the previous campaign, the addition of the 29-year-old will cover for the shortcomings in that area of the squad. However, the English club need to act quickly, as the release clause expires on July 15.

Barcelona are also reportedly interested in Dumfries and believe his profile fits their requirements. The Netherlands international is also on the cusp of appointing Jorge Mendes as his new agent. This may be in Barca's favour as the club are on good terms with Mendes.

Inter reportedly have shortlisted Bologna's Dan Ndoye as a possible replacement in case Dumfries exits San Siro in the summer. However, Bologna have put a price tag of €45m (£39m/$53m) on the Swiss player. Napoli are also pursuing the 24-year-old's signing, further putting pressure on Inter to sort Dumfries' situation at the club.
