Jose Mourinho's hopes of steering Fenerbahce deep into the 2025-26 Champions League face a serious test, with his side just 90 minutes away from an early exit. Trailing narrowly after the first leg, the Turkish giants will need to flip the script against Feyenoord in the decisive second-leg showdown of their third-round qualifier.
In last week's first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round at De Kuip, Feyenoord narrowly got the better of Fenerbahce with a 2-1 victory in a tightly contested affair that offered few clear-cut chances.
The breakthrough came in the 19th minute when Mert Muldur inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, gifting the hosts an early advantage. Fenerbahce hit back late in the first half through former Manchester United loanee Sofyan Amrabat, but just when it seemed the match was destined for a draw, Anis Hadj Moussa struck deep into stoppage time to seal the win for the Dutch side.
For Fenerbahce, last season's failure to reach the league stage of this competition still lingers, and with Galatasaray continuing to set the pace in Turkish football, the pressure on Jose Mourinho is steadily mounting. Feyenoord, meanwhile, will be confident of finishing the job, though Robin van Persie will also be under scrutiny to showcase his defensive nous. With both sides eager to make a statement, a goal-filled, high-tempo clash under the lights in Istanbul wouldn’t be a surprise.

Team news & squads
Fenerbahce team news
Fenerbahce emerged from the first leg without any fresh injury setbacks, yet Jose Mourinho will still be without a handful of key figures due to fitness woes or registration issues.
Long-term absentee Rodrigo Becao remains sidelined with an ACL injury, while Diego Carlos, Cengiz Under, and Emre Mor were all left out of the squad for the Champions League qualifiers. Even so, Mourinho has no shortage of attacking options to shuffle the deck.
Nelson Semedo and Jhon Duran, both used off the bench in Rotterdam, are pushing for starting roles this time around, and marquee signing Milan Skriniar will once again marshal the defence with the captain's armband.
Feyenoord team news
Across the touchline, Robin van Persie faces a genuine selection headache at the back. Feyenoord are without centre-halves Thomas Beelen (leg fracture), Gernot Trauner (Achilles), Jeremy Mitchell (muscle injury), and Antef Tsoungui (ACL), while left-back Gijs Smal is also unavailable.
That leaves recent arrivals Anel Ahmedhodzic and Tsuyoshi Watanabe to form an improvised partnership in central defence. Further forward, though, the Dutch side's problems ease considerably. Jakub Moder is nursing a knock, but midfield anchors Quinten Timber and Hwang In-beom remain nailed-on starters in Van Persie's engine room.
