Fabin resigns as Asante Kotoko coach

Asante Kotoko head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has resigned from the club after only seven months in charge.

The former Ghana U-17 coach joined the Porcupine Warriors in February in a one-year deal, succeeding Steve Pollack, who was fired when the club failed to  progress in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Under Fabin, Kotoko completed the first round of the Ghana Premier League in fourth position and have been superb in their recent friendly games especially the 4-0 aggregate win against Hearts of Oak.

''I write without any malice to inform you that I am tendering my resignation as head coach of your club Asante Kotoko Club," a statement from Fabin read.

"Effective 13th September, 2018 this decision has become necessary because of my personal conviction that it is time to bow out due to circumstances beyond my control.

"Moreover, I deem it the right time to exit as the league here has been suspended and above all to enable any replacement to be able to familiarize with the team and continue with the success chalked so far.

''I want to thank the Executive Chairman for giving me the opportunity to work with him, the management team, the playing body and the supporters for their encouragement during the rough times.

"To those that we had disagreements and misunderstanding with I say it is part of the job. Once again, thank you for the opportunity,'' the statement added.

Goal understands that Fabin is having negotiations with a South African PSL club and will likely sign a two-year contract if the club meet his demands.
