  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Williams-Barnett is only 16 years of age, but has already figured in four senior matchday squads this season – three in the Europa League and one in the Premier League. He is expected to follow in the footsteps of fellow academy graduate Mikey Moore.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Williams-Barnett would also appear to be a big fan of former Spurs star Dele, who is now in Italy with Serie A side Como. After wrapping up his hat-trick against Brighton, the youngster opted for the famous eye celebration that Alli helped to turn viral in 2018.

  • WHAT DELE ALLI SAID

Dele told Standard Sport of his routine, which many found impossible to copy: “When we were at the World Cup, there were a few days when the families could come to the hotel. One afternoon, Jamie Vardy’s kids were around and they asked me if I could do it. I could but then I watched the other boys struggling, it was funny.

“I heard afterwards that Jesse Lingard’s brother had showed them how to do it, so I don’t actually know where it came from and who made it up, but when I was on holiday with my friends we all kept doing it, so I shared it. I didn’t think it was going to go as mad as it did. It’s just a bit of fun.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Spurs will be hoping that Williams-Barnett continues to tread a similar path to Dele, with there high hopes that he can become a first-team star of the future – bringing much-needed spark to Tottenham’s attacking unit.
