Socceroos bolter Awer Mabil stars in Denmark

Awer Mabil claimed his first goal for Midtjylland in a 3-0 win on Sunday as the 22-year-old Australian settles back into life in Denmark.

The former Adelaide United player scored his side's opener with a strong, driven strike and played a hand in the third as he showed Graham Arnold why he deserves a shot with the Socceroos.

According to The World Game, Mabil is set to be called up for an Australian training camp in September as Arnold looks to bring more spark to a static attack.

Mabil has represented Australia at youth level and was called up to the Socceroos squad under Ange Postecoglou, but is yet to play for the green and gold at senior level.

After spending last season on loan in Portugal with Pacos de Ferreira and scoring three goals across 29 appearances, Mabil looks set to step up for Midtjylland this season.

Moving to Denmark in 2015, the Aussie has been loaned out twice but has featured four times for Midtjylland in this campaign as he looks to cement a first-team spot.

A strong showing against Randers hopefully a sign of things to come as Mabil throws his hat in the ring for Socceroos selection.

"I'm very hungry and hungry for more victories like this," Mabil said post-game.

"It always feels good to score and even better to win.

"I'm getting sharper, more confident in the team and I'm growing with the team."
