The group stages of the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League is upon us. The final matchday sees Liverpool play hosts to Napoli in what is set to be an intriguing clash.
With Group C set for an enthralling finish on the final matchday, this game assumes a lot of significance. Liverpool are currently third in the group with six points while Napoli are top with nine points. PSG, who are second with eight points, will play group stragglers Red Star Belgrade.
With PSG expected to win against Red Star, both Napoli and Liverpool cannot afford to lose.
Carlo Ancelotti's men will be wary of the fact that they are playing at Anfield which is famous for an intimidating atmosphere. But all they need to confirm progression is to avoid a loss. But even if they lose 1-0, they will stay ahead of Liverpool and can qualify.
GettyLiverpool, on the other hand, need an outright win with a two-goal margin to progress.
The likes of Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will be expected to fire against a Napoli defence which has been miserly, having conceded just the four goals from five games so far.
At the same time, Jurgen Klopp's men will have to be wary of the attacking threat posed by the likes of Dries Mertens and Marek Hamsik.
With such high stakes on offer, we should be in for a cracker at Anfield.
