Commentary

That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye!
Three ever-so valuable points sees Roma catapulted back into Serie A's top four, overtaking Milan on goal difference and closing the gap to second-placed Inter to three points. Juve, on the other hand, drop to eighth, with Bologna a place above them having a game in hand. The Bianconeri had chances to win this game comfortably, but their poor finishing and indiscipline towards the end of the game continues what has been a frustrating season in every aspect for Max Allegri's side.
Mancini's piledriver of a goal was worthy of winning any match, with the centre-back proving to be Roma's key man at both ends. Scoring from his only shot, amounting to just 0.03 xG, Mancini also completed the highest passing rate of any Roma player at 95.1 per cent, and also won one of his two on-the-ball duels. The Azzurri international won possession four times, completed two interceptions and three clearances in a man-of-the-match performance. Titan.
It's all over, and resolute Roma defence ensures the Giallorossi hold on for the points, with Mancini's super strike winning it for the hosts! The centre-back's 25-yard effort proved to be the only goal of the game, after which Juventus threw everything they had at Roma, but were constantly repelled. Frustration grew as the chances and the minutes passed, compounded by a red card for Moise Kean just 40 seconds after entering the pitch. Cuadrado, Di Maria, Chiesa and Danilo all had chances, but Patricio, Mancini and the rest of Roma's defence stood tall to send Jose Mourinho's side back into the top four.
90' + 8' FULL-TIME: ROMA 1-0 JUVENTUS.
90' + 8' SAVED!!! What a crucial last-gasp stop by Patricio! Chiesa's cross from the left sees Pogba have a header deflected, only for Danilo to follow up in the box. He drills a low, first-time effort towards goal, but Patricio parries it before smothering the loose ball and secure all three points for Roma!
90' + 7' Chiesa cuts inside from the left and beats Karsdorp before shooting, but his wild effort flies high into the night sky and clears the crossbar by some distance!
90' + 6' Kean's red card was the first in his Serie A career, but it's the fifth sending-off a Juventus player has received this season. Conversely, Roma are yet to receive a red card - for a player on the pitch, anyway.
90' + 4' Danilo makes a burst forward and looks for Vlahovic in the box, but it takes a deflection off Matic and Patricio collects.
90' + 3' Karsdorp wins the ball and drives forward into open space before cutting in-field towards the centre of the pitch. He has Abraham ahead of him, but looks for Bove to his left, and the final pass is a poor one which Bremer cuts out.
90' + 1' That wild incident has contributed to SEVEN added minutes at the end of the 90, but will that be enough for 10-man Juventus to find an equaliser here?
M. Kean
Red Card
90' HE'S ON, HE'S OFF!!!! Kean heads off the pitch almost as soon as he came on, and what a wild incident to kick it all off! Kean is held back by Mancini and goes to ground, but before a free-kick can be given his way, Kean kicks the defender in the back of the leg and the referee shows him a straight red! An absolute brain explosion from the Juventus substitute, and he trudges off literally seconds after his introduction!
M. Kean
J. Cuadrado
89' Juve prepare to add further attacking options late on, and Moise Kean replaces Cuadrado as the clock ticks towards the 90.
88' Roma appears happy to keep possession in the final third, but Belotti slips an angled throughball forward for Karsdorp. He races to keep the ball in play, but his cut-back deflects behind for a corner off Bonucci!
87' Di Maria hangs a cross into the area, which Pogba attacks, but Patricio collects the ball in the air before Pogba clatters into him.
A. Belotti
L. Pellegrini
86' Pellegrini looks to have pulled a muscle while stretching to prevent Pogba from shooting, and the captain comes off late, to be replaced by Andrea Belotti.
84' Roma have avoided defeat in their last 20 league matches after scoring the opening goal, dating back to a 4-3 loss in January 2022 - against Juventus.
82' CHANCES!!! Roma are at panic stations here! The delivery from the corner takes a nick off Mancini before hitting the post, and the Roma clearance drops to Chiesa. His first effort is blocked by Ibanez, and a second from the left-hand side is blocked and held on the floor by Patricio!
81' BLOCKED!!! Di Maria sends a curling effort goalwards from the dead ball, but it strikes the Roma wall and deflects behind for a Juventus corner!
80' Abraham catches the ankle of Pogba on the edge of Roma's box, and the visitors will get another chance to shoot on goal as we enter the final 10 minutes.
78' SAVED!!! Di Maria plays a one-two with Chiesa before shooting from range, and his 25-yard effort is bound for the top corner before being pushed wide by Patricio!
P. Pogba
F. Kostić
76' The booked Kostic comes off next, and Paul Pogba enters the fray for only his second appearance since returning to Turin.
L. Paredes
M. Locatelli
76' Juve make further changes, with Locatelli replaced at the base of midfield by Leandro Paredes.
F. Kostić
Yellow Card
75' Kostic loses out to Ibanez, and after needlessly shoving the off-balance Roma defender over the sideline, is shown a yellow card by the referee.
75' SAVED!!! Pellegrini fires a high, hanging cross into the area. It looks to be heading behind, but Smalling pops up from nowhere at the back post, and his header back across the face is blocked by the chest of Szczesny!
74' Spinazzola shows Cuadrado a clean pair of heels and looks for Abraham in the box, but it's clipped behind for a corner by Juve captain Bonucci.
E. Bove
G. Wijnaldum
73' Wijnaldum also comes off after that earlier knock, and youngster Edoardo Bove will replace him out wide.
T. Abraham
P. Dybala
73' Dybala doesn't get the dream return against Juventus unfortunately, as he comes off for Tammy Abraham to provide the Giallorossi with a new dimension up front.
71' Some lovely one-touch play frees up Vlahovic in the box, but he looks to find Cuadrado rather than shoot and the ball is cut out!
70' Wijnaldum is down following a head clash with Bonucci in the box, and Roma ready substitutes as the midfielder receives treatment.
68' Di Maria's corner is glanced away by Smalling, but Locatelli meets the loose ball on the half-volley, only for his 25-yard effort to be headed over by Smalling for another corner!
67' Chiesa crosses for Di Maria at the back post, but Spinazzola is aware of the Argentinian's presence and safely heads the ball behind for a Juventus corner.
65' CHANCE!!! Karsdorp finds space to run into down the right, but Danilo cuts across to dispossess him. However, the Brazilian underhits a back-pass to Szczesny, who has to hack the ball into touch to prevent Karsdorp from intercepting!
64' Di Maria fizzes the ball goalwards from the free-kick, but his curling strike is straight into the gloves of Patricio!
R. Karsdorp
N. Zalewski
64' Zalewski comes off following that mistake, and Rick Karsdorp returns to the side to take his place at right-back.
L. Spinazzola
Yellow Card
63' Spinazzola gives the ball away and Di Maria plays Chiesa in behind the wing-back. The Roma defender tugs him back and to the floor, conceding a yellow card-worthy free-kick on the edge of the box.
62' CHANCE!!! Almost a costly mistake from Zalewski! He attempts to head a high ball back to Patricio, but doesn't put enough power on the ball and Vlahovic almost nips in to score before Patricio gathers it!
60' Spinazzola whips a cross right onto the head of Pellegrini, but the Roma captain can't direct his glancing effort on target and the ball sails well wide!
F. Chiesa
N. Fagioli
59' Fagioli comes off in Juve's second change, and it's an attacking one that sees the introduction of Federico Chiesa.
59' OFF THE POST!!! Cuadrado steps up to take the left-sided free-kick, firing a right-footed effort over the wall that clips Patricio's right post on its way behind!
B. Cristante
Yellow Card
57' Rabiot gets around the outside of Cristante and runs into space down the left, but he's dragged down from behind by the Roma midfielder, who is promptly booked.
56' Pellegrini surges forward looking to double Roma's lead straight away, but his pass left to Spinazzola is superbly cut out by a sliding Cuadrado!
54' Roma have won all seven home games in which they've scored first this season, and in 12 such games all season, they've only dropped points in one, with 11 wins and a sole draw.
B. Cristante
Assist
53' Cristante gets the assist, finding Mancini to his right in open space. He didn't have to do much, and not even he would've expected Mancini to shoot from there!
G. Mancini
Goal
53' GOOOOAAAAAALLLL!!!!! What a thunderbolt that is!!!! Roma are building slowly and Cristante passes out to Mancini. With nothing on, the centre-back goes for glory, and from 25 yards fires a fizzing low shot which rockets across Szczesny and nestles in the bottom corner! 1-0 to the hosts, and the defender won't have struck many balls as sweet as that before!
51' CHANCE!!! Di Maria flashes one hell of a ball across the face of goal, but the low cross is missed by everyone, with Smalling closest to it and nearly scoring in his own net!
50' Juve have stopped their opposition from scoring a first-half goal in 18 of their 25 league games this season, with only Lazio doing so more often (21 times) in 2022-23.
48' Kostic shrugs off Zalewski's challenge to cut the ball into the box from the left, but Mancini cuts it out as Zalewski remains down in a heap.
47' Kostic darts down the left before sliding the ball inside to Rabiot. He chips the ball across the face of goal, but no-one in black and white can get there before Patricio gathers.
46' Vlahovic gets the second half underway, as Juve kick us off at Stadio Olimpico!
L. Bonucci
Alex Sandro
46' One half-time change is made for Juventus, with Alex Sandro replaced by club captain Leonardo Bonucci in the back three.
We're back for the second half, and given how cagey most of the first 45 minutes were, you get the sense that the first goal of the second period - if it comes - could be crucial!
Matic has been right in the thick of things in midfield so far, completing more touches, passes and balls into the final third than any other Roma player. He completed all 13 of his passes in the attacking third, and won four of five duels, including one take-on. In defence he managed a clearance and interception apiece, also winning Roma three free-kicks albeit conceding one himself, with a yellow card to boot.
Goalless at the break, and looking at the quality of chances in the final third (or lack thereof), it's no surprise! Rabiot's headed attempts right at the end of the half was the only time we've seen either goalkeeper truly threatened, with Roma hardly having a touch in the Juventus box. It's still been fairly even, particularly in a midfield battle that should open up further as the second half progresses, which will hopefully lead to more goalmouth action.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: ROMA 0-0 JUVENTUS.
45' + 1' Matic chips over the top of the defence for Wijnaldum to shoot, but his attempted volley is blocked away before the flag is raised for offside!
45' We'll play a solitary minute of added time to close out the first half.
44' OFF THE POST!! First real chance of the game!! Danilo has space to cross and whips an absolute teaser to the back post. Rabiot arrives to nod a downward header goalwards, but lightning-fast Patricio reactions sends the ball off his knee, into the post, and back out again!
42' SAVED!!! Juve aren't having much luck passing into the box, and Locatelli takes matters into his own hands by firing a shot from some 35 yards. His low drive is headed for the near-side bottom corner, but Patricio isn't troubled as he holds the ball!
41' Kostic turns his marker before racing down the left to cross. Ibanez heads away, as does Smalling from Danilo's cross from the other side, before another ball in from Danilo is cleared down the field by Pellegrini.
39' With half-time on the horizon, both managers will feel encouraged to make some alterations in the second period. Roma's lack of presence in the final third could result in an attacking substitution, while Juve's poor use of the right-hand side will also likely be addressed.
37' Juventus have won six of their last seven Serie A away games, after failing to win any of their first four in 2022-23. The Bianconeri have recorded seven clean sheets in 11 away league games so far, last having more in their opening 12 away games of a Serie A season in 1981-82, with nine.
35' Di Maria flicks the ball over Cristante's head as he launches a counter-attack, but after playing a one-two with Kostic, his return ball to the Serbian is overhit and rolls behind for a goal kick.
N. Matić
Yellow Card
33' Matic clatters into Cuadrado after the Colombian receives a pass back from his own throw-in, and the Roma midfielder receives his side's first booking of the game.
32' Ibanez chips a long ball over the top for Wijnaldum to chase, but with Bremer back-peddling, Szczesny races out of his box to hoof the ball away!
M. Locatelli
Yellow Card
31' Spinazzola attempts to latch onto Matic's pass as Roma try to get out of trouble, but the wing-back is clipped from behind by Locatelli, and the Juve midfielder is shown the first booking of this game!
29' The Bianconeri break at speed and Rabiot finds Fagioli careering into the box. The youngster looks to have shooting space, but a poor first touch means he's sliding as he attempts his effort, and he clips Matic late to concede a free-kick!
27' SAVED!!! Spinazzola cuts inside and shoots from the edge of the area, but it's blocked away by Juventus. Cristante recovers possession and tees up Dybala, whose curling effort from the opposite edge of the box is parried away by Szczesny!
25' Cristante twice looks for Wijnaldum in the box, but Bremer has his number on both occasions and twice heads clear.
23' Vlahovic looks to play in Fagioli but the ball ricochets off Matic. It skews towards the Roma goal with Rabiot closing in, but Patricio smothers the ball to alleviate the danger.
22' Dybala's having to drop very deep and continually drift wide to make anything happen against his former employers, leaving Roma with little to aim at in the final third when they do win possession back with La Joya involved.
20' Massimiliano Allegri has won three league games against Jose Mourinho, more than any other Serie A manager. Moreover, the Roma coach has won just two games against Juventus in the Italian top-flight, his joint fewest wins against a team he’s faced at least five times alongside Napoli.
18' CHANCE!!! Roma take a free-kick quickly and Spinazzola races in behind Bremer. He's forced wide by the defender and crosses to the back post, but it's scythed away by Sandro with Pellegrini and Dybala closing in!
17' Roma have won each of their last four home games in Serie A, keeping all four opponents scoreless in the process. The last time they enjoyed a longer league winning streak at home under a single manager was in December 2017, with Eusebio Di Francesco in the dugout.
15' Dybala plays a one-two with an advanced Mancini and races across the edge of the box. He shoots from 19 yards, but it's an off-balance effort which is easily blocked!
13' The last 12 Serie A matches between Roma and Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico have seen four home wins, four draws, and four Juventus wins, with the Bianconeri winning two of the last three at this venue.
11' Fagioli sparks a Juventus counter-attack and Kostic bursts forward. From the byline, he cuts the ball back to Di Maria on the edge of the box, but the Argentine's shot is cut out by Pellegrini!
9' Ibanez takes a stride forward for Roma and looks to pierce the midfield line, but he's tripped by Fagioli on halfway and wins Roma a free-kick.
8' Mancini is down holding his ankle, and eventually leaves the pitch for further treatment. Roma continue to play a man down for now, as on-loan Leeds defender Diego Llorente warms up on the touchline.
6' Cuadrado looks to find the run of Vlahovic in the box, but overhits his cross and fires the ball out for a goal kick.
4' SAVED!!! Vlahovic gets an early sighter in the box, after Di Maria's cross from a wide free-kick on the left. He side-foots a half-volley goalwards, but Patricio sees it all the way and holds the ball!
3' Roma have suffered 85 Serie A defeats to Juventus, the highest number of losses against any side to have ever played in the competition. The Bianconeri have won three of the last four meetings, with the most recent being a 1-1 draw in Turin.
1' Roma captain Pellegrini kicks the game off, and we're underway in the Italian capital!
The teams head out onto the pitch, with kick-off just moments away between the Giallorossi and Bianconeri!
Juve’s defenders made an impact in attack during the visitors’ 4-2 win over Torino in the Derby della Mole, with Cuadrado, Danilo and Bremer all getting on the scoresheet. All retain their places in the XI, as does fellow scorer Adrien Rabiot, while Angel di Maria will shadow Dusan Vlahovic up front in Juve’s 3-5-1-1 formation.
Roma dropped from third to fifth in the table following their loss to lowly Cremonese, with Leonardo Spinazzola’s equaliser coming in vain. He starts at left wing-back, with Nicola Zalewski, usually a central midfielder, continuing on the opposite flank. Paulo Dybala leads the line in his first appearance against his former club, having joined Roma in summer 2022 following seven seasons in Turin.
JUVENTUS SUBS: Carlo Pinsoglio, Mattia Perin, Federico Chiesa, Paul Pogba, Federico Gatti, Moise Kean, Leonardo Bonucci, Fabio Miretti, Daniele Rugani, Matias Soule Malvano, Leandro Paredes, Samuel Iling-Junior, Enzo Barrenechea.
JUVENTUS (3-5-1-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Juan Cuadrado, Nicolo Fagioli, Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot, Filip Kostic; Angel di Maria; Dusan Vlahovic.
ROMA SUBS: Pietro Boer, Mile Svilar, Rick Karsdorp, Tammy Abraham, Andrea Belotti, Diego Llorente, Zeki Celik, Mady Camara, Marash Kumbulla, Edoardo Bove, Cristian Volpato, Stephan El Shaarawy.
ROMA (3-4-2-1): Rui Patricio; Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling, Ibanez; Nicola Zalewski, Bryan Cristante, Nemanja Matic, Leonardo Spinazzola; Lorenzo Pellegrini, Georginio Wijnaldum; Paulo Dybala.
Despite a 15-point deduction imposed in late January, Juve have slowly climbed back up the table and currently sit seventh. The Old Lady have won their last four league games in a row, and will be keen to close a seven-point gap to Atalanta a place above them, with their post-deduction form so impressive that they’d be second in the table if given those points back!
Roma sit fifth in the Serie A table, two points clear of nearest challengers Atalanta a place below them. They could close a three-point gap to the top four and would overtake Milan with a win in this game, but they come into it having lost at Cremonese last time out – becoming the first side to be defeated by the 19th placed strugglers all season.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of this Serie A fixture, as Roma take on Juventus at Stadio Olimpico.
