Commentary

That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game. 'Till the next one comes around, bye for now.
A point apiece results in neither side making any movements in the Serie A table. Milan miss the chance to leapfrog Lazio and remain fourth, now a point clear of fifth-placed Roma, while Salernitana creep further away from the drop zone, opening up a seven-point cushion to the bottom three.
Boulaye Dia's equaliser was his ninth strike of the season, extending his lead at the top of Salernitana's scoring charts. However, Emil Bohinen was absolutely everywhere for the visitors in midfield, having more touches and passes than any of his team-mates and creating two chances with nine passes into the final third. The Norwegian won nine of his team-high 15 duels, winning three of seven aerial battles and turning possession over on four occasions. One of these ball wins came in the final third, with Bohinen putting in four tackles, five clearances, and an interception as well as winning two free-kicks. The Derby-born midfielder's stock continues to rise in Campania, and a senior Norway debut can't be too far away with performances like that.
It ends level, as Salernitana seal their first-ever league points at San Siro! Boulaye Dia's superb second-half equaliser cancels out Olivier Giroud's opening goal, with both sides throwing everything towards finding a winner that never came. Milan piled on the pressure late through Bennacer, Origi and Florenzi, but couldn't find a way past Ochoa or his resolute three-man defence. The visitors also went close at the other end, with Piatek and Dia both drawing saves from Maignan, but at full-time the spoils are shared to cap off an entertaining end-to-end thrill ride in Milan!
90' + 9' FULL-TIME: MILAN 1-1 SALERNITANA.
90' + 8' Milan win a free-kick which Hernandez crosses into the box, but Salernitana clear and are able to race clear on the break! Piatek carries through the middle with options left and right, but his pass wide to Bonazzoli is overhit and rolls into touch!
B. Dia
Yellow Card
90' + 6' After the storm is calmed by the referee, the players separate and Dia is shown a yellow card for sparking the incident with his act of time-wasting.
90' + 5' All hell breaks loose on the touchline after Dia holds the ball to prevent a quick throw being taken, and Hernandez flies in to try wrestle the ball free, with both sets of team-mates soon following!
F. Tomori
Yellow Card
90' + 4' Ibrahimovic accidentally kicks the ball into Tomori's arm, and the England defender's reaction to being penalised results in the referee showing him a yellow card for dissent!
90' + 2' Origi cuts onto his right foot and shoots from the edge of the area, but a wild deflection almost sends the ball looping behind for a corner, with Ochoa having to really stretch as he reels it in!
90' + 1' SAVED!!! De Ketelaere and Origi find Ibrahimovic in the box, whose low drive towards the far corner is parried by Ochoa before Daniliuc clears for Salernitana!
90' We'll play SIX additional minutes at the end of the game, and with things as finely poised as they are at San Siro, which side, if any, can find a late winner here?
L. Coulibaly
Yellow Card
89' Coulibaly loses out to Tonali in midfield and clips the Milan substitute as he's passed, going into the book late on for the foul.
87' OFF THE LINE!!! After Kalulu's cross goes over the top from the right, Hernandez looks to pick out the back post with another ball in from the left. Ochoa gets a hand to the ball, palming it into the path of Florenzi, whose close-range header is cleared off the line by Gyomber! A game-saving block from the defender, with the scores remaining level as the clock ticks down!
S. Tonali
I. Bennacer
85' Bennacer has kept things ticking over in Milan's midfield all game long, but the Algerian is withdrawn late for Sandro Tonali.
J. Sambia
Yellow Card
85' Hernandez charges through the middle on the counter for Milan, but is dragged back by his shirt in the centre circle, and the perpetrator Sambia is shown a yellow card almost as soon as he's come onto the pitch.
84' BLOCKED!!! Bradaric and Dia combine again after the Salernitana wing-back does brilliantly to beat Florenzi to a high ball before charging forward. He cuts the ball back for Dia to shoot from the edge of the box, but Thiaw gets in the way of the goalscorer's first-time effort!
J. Sambia
P. Mazzocchi
83' Mazzocchi comes off also, with Junior Sambia replacing I Granata's captain in midfield.
D. Črnigoj
E. Bohinen
83' Bohinen comes off after an excellent performance in the centre of midfield, and Domen Crnigoj is on to see out the last few minutes for Salernitana.
82' SAVED!!! Piatek beats Tomori on the edge of Milan's box, before unleashing a powerful 20-yard effort which stings Maignan's fingertips as the Frenchman gets down to parry the shot!
80' Milan have had 68.7 per cent possession over the last 15 minutes, laying siege to the Salernitana box as they seek to restore the lead.
78' Bennacer flicks the ball out to Florenzi, whose cross finds De Ketelaere at the near post, but the Belgian's glancing header is a poor one and skews wide of the target!
78' Ibrahimovic steals the ball from Bohinen in midfield and shoots from distance, but his 20-yard effort is blocked by Daniliuc!
A. Florenzi
A. Saelemaekers
77' Saelemaekers has arguably been Milan's most creative player up and down the right wing, but he's replaced for the final passage of the game by Alessandro Florenzi
76' WHAT A SAVE!! Saelemaekers crosses towards the far post where Ibrahimovic flicks the ball to Origi. He's practically stood on the goal-line as he heads for the far corner, but Ochoa dives across from nowhere to claw the ball off the line and out again! That was some stop from the Mexican!
75' Ibrahimovic chips a pass into Saelemaekers' path in Salernitana's box, but the ball is slightly overhit and Ochoa collects.
73' Mazzocchi looks for the run of Piatek in the box, but the former Milan striker hits the deck with Tomori close to him. Tomori shakes his head at the substitute's appeals for a penalty, and the referee's not convinced either.
71' OVERTURNED!! The referee heads over to the pitchside monitor to review the challenge on Bennacer, deciding it's not quite worthy of a penalty and reverses his decision!
70' POTENTIAL PENALTY TO MILAN!!! Krunic feigns shooting before passing to De Ketelaere on the edge of the box, who turns and tees up Bennacer to his right. The midfielder goes down following a shove from Bradaric in the box, and the referee immediately points to the spot! However, in come the protests, and VAR may also be getting involved here...
F. Bonazzoli
A. Candreva
68' Candreva also comes off, with the veteran winger replaced by 25-year-old striker Federico Bonazzoli.
M. Lovato
L. Pirola
68' A double change coming for Salernitana, as the injured Pirola is replaced by Matteo Lovato.
67' Hernandez is moving uneasily following that fast-paced move, and the Milan captain receives medical attention before continuing at left-back.
65' OVER!!!! Hernandez's cross from the left is deflected off Mazzocchi and falls to Bennacer, who lashes a half-volley from the edge of the box which flashes just over - Ochoa was beaten all ends up!
64' CHANCE!!! Hernandez puts his head down and races into open space for the Rossoneri. He goes down in the box under pressure from Coulibaly, but the referee judges that the shoulder-to-shoulder challenge was fair and waves play-on!
C. De Ketelaere
Rafael Leão
62' Leao also comes off having become ineffective off the left, and Charles de Ketelaere replaces the forward out wide.
Z. Ibrahimović
O. Giroud
62' One veteran goalscorer replaces another, as the recently-booked Giroud is withdrawn for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
D. Origi
Brahim Díaz
62' Stefano Pioli reacts to that by changing all of Milan's front three, as Divock Origi replaces Brahim Diaz.
D. Bradarić
Assist
61' The build-up play from Salernitana there was just superb, going from Bohinen to Coulibaly and then Bradaric, whose cross was perfectly weighted for Dia to stroke home!
B. Dia
Goal
61' GOOOOAAAALLL!!! A well-worked equaliser from the visitors!!! Salernitana come forward at speed as they work the ball to the left, and Bradaric's low cross is slotted in at the near post by Dia's first-time shot! Dia was denied by Maignan in the first half, but the Milan goalkeeper had absolutely no chance on this occasion, and it's 1-1 with everything to play for at San Siro!
O. Giroud
Yellow Card
59' Mazzocchi looks to race away from Giroud but is dragged back by the Milan forward, whose resultant booking means he'll be suspended for the Rossoneri's next league match against Udinese.
58' Saelemaekers fires a deflected cross into the box, which is bouncing all over the place before Ochoa dives in to punch the ball half-clear!
56' The ball drops to Candreva in midfield, who tries his luck 30 yards from goal and sends a decent shot straight into the gloves of Maignan!
K. Piątek
G. Kastanos
56' Kastanos comes off in Salernitana's first change, and on-loan Hertha Berlin striker Krzysztof Piatek enters the fray, who scored 16 goals in 41 Milan appearances between 2018 and 2020.
54' Milan are unbeaten in their last 14 Serie A matches when leading at half-time, dating back to January 2022 against Spezia. They won 11 and drawn one such game so far this season.
52' WIDE!! Bennacer beats three in midfield as he strides with purpose into the box, but his drilled square pass to Leao is put wide by the forward's first-time shot!
51' Mazzocchi beats Hernandez down the right and swings a cross into the box, but it's far too close to Maignan and the Milan 'keeper gathers the ball.
50' Hernandez charges into clear and open space on the counter for Milan, before linking up with Leao, but the forward takes a heavy touch as he cuts inside and Bohinen wins the ball back for the visitors!
48' Salernitana have now failed to score a first-half goal in 19 of their 26 league games, with only bottom two Cremonese (20) and Sampdoria (21) failing to score more often in Serie A so far this season.
46' Salernitana resume proceedings at San Siro, as the second half gets underway!
The teams head back out of the tunnel for the second half, and can visitors Salernitana find the goal that will turn this game around? It's eluded them so far, and Milan will be looking to press on and guarantee three points here.
Rafael Leao has provided constant danger for Salernitana down the left edge, looking to cut inside and shoot or cross every time he's received the ball. He's had four attempts on goal, half of which have come outside the box, and has also contested seven duels, winning two of his four dribbles and gaining possession for Milan three times. Outlet.
A first-half sparse in both chances and quality is lit up right at the end, as Giroud heads Milan in front with the only goal of the game! The Rossoneri have so far been below-par, with most of their chances coming via Giroud and Bennacer at set-pieces. Salernitana have gone close themselves through Kastanos and Dia, with the latter denied by Maignan late in the half, in a game that looked certain to be goalless at half-time. However, Bennacer and Giroud combined from another set-piece for the Frenchman to head in, and that late finish is the difference at the break.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: MILAN 1-0 SALERNITANA.
I. Bennacer
Assist
45' + 1' Bennacer's delivery from the corner was right onto the head of Giroud, and the experienced France striker made it count to nod the ball into the net.
O. Giroud
Goal
45' + 1' GOOOAAAALLL!!! Milan strike late in the first half!! Winning a corner, Bennacer's delivery into the centre is flicked goalwards by Giroud, and the ball nestles in the bottom corner with Ochoa unmoved! 1-0 to the hosts, and that lead will be a relief for Stefano Pioli entering the half-time break.
45' We'll play a minute of added time to close out this evenly-matched first half at San Siro.
44' Saelemaekers picks out Diaz on the edge of the box, who finds Krunic in support. However, his attempted pass appears to be deflected away from the Bosnian by a defender, but the referee awards a goal kick!
42' CHANCE!! What a tackle from the goalkeeper!!! Leao's deflected ball bounces to Thiaw, but he's dispossessed by Dia who races clear for the visitors! He looks to round an advancing Maignan on the edge of his box, but the Milan custodian times his tackle perfectly before collecting the loose ball in the box!
40' Saelemaekers creates space down the right before squaring to Hernandez, but the full-back's first-time shot is sliced and skews well wide of the target!
39' A Saelemaekers cross finds Giroud in the box, but the aerial ball comes too fast for the Frenchman to control and he blazes a weak header over the top.
37' WIDE!!! Giroud tees up Diaz to shoot from the edge of the box, but the Spaniard assesses his options before finding Leao. He cuts onto his right foot and arcs the ball towards the top corner, but a slight deflection takes the ball around the wrong side of the post!
36' Milan have had 66 per cent possession over the last 15 minutes, but it's Salernitana who've had the best chance so far with that Kastanos effort blocked.
34' WIDE!!! Some calamitous Milan defending nearly gifts Salernitana the lead! Bennacer slides in to dispossess Bohinen, but his pass to Maignan is far too short and the visitors snatch the ball! Bohinen tees up Kastanos to shoot with Maignan stranded, but the Salernitana forward sees his effort blocked wide of the far post!
33' The hosts are unbeaten in four of their five league matches against sides starting the matchday in the bottom five of the table; however, in the most recent of these games they lost 5-2 at home to Sassuolo.
31' Candreva looks to find space on the edge of Milan's box, but he's taken to ground by Saelemaekers on the turn and wins a free-kick that Salernitana could choose to either shoot or cross from.
29' WHOAA!!! What a goal we nearly witnessed there!! Bennacer's corner finds Giroud in the box, who attempts an ambitious overhead kick and sends the ball over the bar by mere inches!
28' Saelemaekers picks out Giroud with a cross-field pass into the box. The striker keeps the ball in play before attempting a cross, which goes behind for a corner via a deflection off Daniliuc.
27' Krunic and Bennacer keep the ball well in midfield before the latter finds Leao, however the Portuguese's cross to the back posts sails over everyone's heads before going behind!
25' Bennacer looks to pick out the runs of Giroud and Hernandez in the box, but his aerial throughball is overhit and flies behind for a goal kick.
23' WIDE!!! Hernandez looks to have found shooting space in the box, but Gyomber scythes the ball away with a well-timed challenge. Kalulu's cross back into the area falls to Leao, who steps beyond his marker before firing a shot across the face of goal and wide!
21' Salernitana have claimed clean sheets in their last two league games, after a run of conceding 12 for games in a row. The Granata could register at least three clean sheets in a row in the top-flight for the first time since a streak of five in May 1999 under Francesco Oddo.
20' Leao charges into the box but is dispossessed, before the ball falls to Giroud. His early effort looks to be heading goalwards, but Gyomber gets in the way to block the shot for the visitors!
19' Since the start of last season, Salernitana have lost all three matches they've played at this venue, by an aggregate score of 9-0. It's a joint-negative record for them in a single stadium away from home.
17' After Saelemaekers is penalised for fouling Bradaric in the air, the Salernitana free-kick is crossed into the box, but Daniliuc's headed attempt is easily caught by Maignan.
15' Milan's corner is headed clear but the ball is recovered by Saelemaekers, who smashes a first-time shot from distance that whistles wide of Ochoa's left post!
14' BLOCKED!!! Diaz is felled on the edge of Salernitana's box by Pirola, and Bennacer's free-kick takes a nick off the visitors' wall before sailing just over the crossbar!
12' A Milan attack breaks down and Coulibaly does brilliantly to keep possession as he heads forward on the counter. It's shifted wide for Mazzocchi to cross, but the wing-back's delivery is straight into the gloves of Maignan.
10' Leao bursts forward on the break, charging into open space. He lets fly from the edge of the box, but Pirola gets in the way for the visitors!
8' Mazzocchi cuts inside from the right, beating both Leao and Diaz on his way into the box, but the Salernitana captain's left-footed shot is blocked away by Giroud!
7' Bennacer gets locked in a tangle with Coulibaly and concedes a free-kick on halfway, which will be crossed straight into Milan's box by the visitors.
5' Saelemaekers chips a cross towards Giroud at the back post, but it's headed behind by Gyomber for the game's first corner.
3' Milan have won five of their last seven matches against Salernitana in Serie A, scoring at least two goals in each match and netting 16 in total across this run.
1' Milan kick the game off, and we're up and running in Lombardy!
The teams head out onto the San Siro pitch, and we're just moments away from kick-off here!
Antonio Candreva and Grigoris Kastanos both scored in Salernitana’s 3-0 win over Monza, and the pair flank Boulaye Dia in attack, with former Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek on the bench.
Junior Messias scored twice in Milan’s recent three-game run of wins, but the Brazilian is suspended for this game after picking up a fifth booking of the season against Fiorentina. The Rossoneri still start with a formidable front three for this game though, as Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao flank Olivier Giroud up front.

Currently sat fourth in the table, Milan’s form has been indifferent since returning from the World Cup, with the Rossoneri winning just four of their 10 games in 2023. The first of these was a 2-1 away win at Salernitana, while their most recent result saw them lose 2-1 at Fiorentina, bringing a three-match winning streak to an end.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of this fixture in Serie A, as Milan face Salernitana at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
