Revealed: The extraordinary lengths Nicolas Jackson went to in order to force through Bayern Munich loan-to-buy transfer from Chelsea

Jackson completed a late switch to the German champions after they agreed a deal with Chelsea for the striker to join on an initial season-long loan with an obligation to buy next summer for £56 million (€64.5m/$75.6m). The move was initially in jeopardy after the Blues told Bayern they could not proceed with the transfer after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in their 2-0 Premier League victory over Fulham on August 30.

And according to German publication Bild, another hurdle was put in the way of Jackson's move. The report claims that once both clubs returned to the table to renegotiate the transfer, Chelsea raised the loan fee required from £13m (€15m/$17.5m) to £14.3m (€16.5m/$19.3m), which would have left Bayern struggling to conclude the deal. However, Jackson is believed to have made up the shortfall by waiving part of a fee he was owed should the transfer go through.

Jackson's desperation to join Bayern comes after Benjamin Sesko's agent also made a similar play to help his client join Manchester United this summer. Elvis Basanovic, Sesko's advisor, claimed in August that he waived part of a commission he was owed in order to help United match RB Leipzig's £74m (€85.2m/$100m) asking price for the Slovenia international.

Jackson will be hoping to make his debut when Bayern play host to newly-promoted Hamburg in the Bundesliga on September 13. Vincent Kompany's side then get their Champions League campaign under way against Chelsea at the Allianz Arena on September 17.
