Madrid have officially included Bellingham in their 23-man squad for Wednesday's Champions League clash against Marseille. In July 2025, after the Club World Cup, he underwent surgery in London to address the recurrent dislocation. The expected recovery time was 10 to 12 weeks, sidelining him for the early part of the 2025-26 season.

During his rehabilitation, Bellingham began non-contact training sessions ahead of schedule in early September 2025. Los Blancos' head coach, Xabi Alonso, expressed cautious optimism about Bellingham's return, noting his significant effort in rehabilitation and hoping for his availability before El Clasico. However, the star midfielder has recovered earlier than expected and is set to start this week.
