Ben White could 'ask to leave' Arsenal with out-of-favour defender given 'two options' amid excellent Jurrien Timber form

The former France international pointed to Timber's sparkling form and White's unnatural fit at right-back as key factors behind his comments. White featured at centre-back for both Leeds and Brighton before making the move to the Emirates.

Gallas went on to say White has two options - stay at the club and fight for his place, or move on. This will be difficult, as Mikel Arteta has shown little interest in dropping the Dutchman. The 24-year-old has made 45 appearances for the Gunners in 2024-25.

Gallas told Slingo: "Jurrien Timber has set the standard so high at right back, it will be very difficult for Ben White to get his position back in the starting XI.

"White will get minutes, but right back isn't his main position, he was never a real right back. He got a few goal contributions, but he needed to do more, like how Timber is performing.

"Ben White has two options, he can stay and fight for his position and show he's the best right back at the club, or he can ask to leave. We'll see."

With the title race all but over, White may get some minutes in the Premier League as Arteta prepares his best XI for the Gunners' Champions League semi-final against PSG.
