Although Selangor head coach Maniam Pachaiappan is unsure whether Liberian forward Forkey Doe would be released from police detention in time for the Red Giants' Super League match against Sarawak next Tuesday, he has already begun preparing for the clash without the Liberian.

"The match against Sarawak is very important, we have to prepare the team in training.

"Maybe we'll be playing this game without him, so we have to concentrate on using our local players, as well as Victor [Astafei] and Mineiro (Juliano Mineiro).

"I believe we can still prepare a good side with the available players," said Maniam when interviewed by Goal on Friday.

Maniam refused to comment in detail on the incident involving Doe, but he voiced his opinion that a professional footballer such as him should be able to avoid controversies like this.

"He's a professional player, he needs to understand that these kinds of things happen.

"But he needs to be very careful, and we'll have to see how (it turns out)," he responded.

On Friday, the club confirmed in a statement that the 31-year old striker has been detained by the Malaysian police for driving a cloned (unregistered) car.
