Blame it on the strikers! Clyne shines as England creator

England frustrated many fans on Monday as they ground to a 0-0 draw with Slovakia in their final game of Group B at Euro 2016 - but it wasn't for a lack of service that they failed to make the breakthrough.

Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge were among six changes to the starting XI as Roy Hodgson shuffled his pack, while Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane were brought on in the second half, but none of the strikers could take any opportunities.

The Three Lions were not short of chances, however, paticularly from the right flank as Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne impressed in an industrious and creative performance.

Clyne was a constant threat, carving out seven clear-cut opportunities on the night in the sort of performance that England have not seen at a major tournament for 10 years.

Indeed, it was the most chances created by one player in a major-tournament game since former captain David Beckham racked up the same tally against Trinidad and Tobago at World Cup 2006.
