West Ham United’s Issa Diop returns with a bang after Premier League horror

After turning the ball into his net against the Gunners on Saturday, the defender got his first goal in English football to help his side win

Issa Diop scored to help West Ham United rally from behind to grab a 3-1 victory over 10-man Wimbledon in a League Cup second round game at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday.

Three days after creating an unfortunate Premier League record in their loss to Arsenal, the defender struck a low swerving effort from outside the box to get his team back on track, after going behind to a Joe Pigott sixth-minute header.

Late goals from Angelo Ogbonna and Javier Hernandez helped the Hammers record their first win of the season after losing their three opening games of 2018-19 - despite several quality recruitments in the transfer window.

After grabbing his first goal in English football, Diop who joined the London side from Toulouse in the summer will hope to get his second top-flight outing as West Ham play Wolverhampton Wanderers, hoping to get their maiden 2018-19 league win.
