Having tasted defeats against Inter Milan and Barcelona in the opening two clashes, Tottenham desperately needed points when they took on PSV in the Netherlands. Despite a dominant display from the English side, it was the hosts who took the lead through a deflected strike from Hirving Lozano.

Tottenham managed to restore parity before the half-time whistle with Lucas Moura bagging the equaliser (39’) before Harry Kane fired them into the lead in the 55th minute. However, a 10-minute period of madness towards the end of the gam saw the English side completely lose the plot. Skipper Hugo Lloris was given his marching orders in the 80th minute before Luke de Jong grabbed a late equaliser for PSV.

With just one point in three matches previously, the pressure was well and truly on Tottenham when they welcomed PSV for the reverse fixture. That pressure was only compounded when Luke de Jong fired the Dutch side ahead after just two minutes.

Despite the hosts laying siege to PSV’s goal, the visitors withstood all the pressure for the majority of the clash before letting their guards down in the final quarter where Harry Kane struck two goals in as many minutes (78’ and 79’) to give Tottenham’s campaign a fresh lease of life.
