Liverpool registered home wins over Paris Saint-Germain (3-2) and Crvena Zvezda (4-0) but their struggles away from home continued as they went down againt the French giants in the return tie after losing to Napoli (1-0) and Crvena Zvezda (2-0) on the road.

Juan Bernat (13') capitalised on poor defending and put PSG ahead and the hosts doubled their advantage through Neymar in the 37th minute goal that left Liverpool on the brink of an early Champions League exit. James Milner (45+1') scored a penalty but Klopp's side could not find a crucial equaliser at the Parc des Princes which meant they had to beat pool leaders Napoli at Anfield on matchday six to have any chance of progression.
