Leipzig have edged closer to a reunion with Christopher Nkunku. The German club have reached a preliminary agreement with Milan over the France forward during the current transfer window.
According to Foot Mercato, the deal would see Nkunku join Leipzig on loan for 3 million euros, with a buy option worth around 27 million euros. Nothing has been finalised yet. The German club still need to agree personal terms with the player.
Leipzig want to take Nkunku back to where it all began after a spell at Milan that never lived up to expectations. The Italian side, meanwhile, are weighing up the best way to move him on.
Newcastle watching
Newcastle remain very much in the hunt for Nkunku. They are pushing on with talks with Leipzig and the player's camp, keen to turn the move into a permanent transfer rather than a loan.
That offer could hand the English club an edge in negotiations, particularly as Milan may prefer to sell the player outright over a loan with a deferred buy option.
